PASSING ARAGNANA THIS OCTOBER 25, 2015
We took the road again to reach the Pangalanes and passed through the village on Sunday October 25, 2015.
To date, with the School built, 4 sub-villages (Ambodivontaka, Ambodimantaly, Andranomadio, Tratramarina) have joined the village of Aragnana to send their children there.
For the year 2014 – 2015: the School welcomed 82 students, including: 35 in CP1 – 15 in CP2 – 10 in CE – 13 in CM1 and 9 in CM2.
9 students took their CE exams and 7 passed
11 students took their exams in CM2 and 8 passed.
For the year 2015 – 2016, we have a total of 86 students officially registered, including 17 in CP2 – 13 in CM1 – 11 in CM2 and the rest in CP1 and CE.
The children have been back at school since October 5, 2015.
The CP2 – CM1 and CM2 classes are taught by Miss FANIRISOA Délicia Anastasie, a young girl aged 21 this year, with a Baccalaureate diploma and is at the same time the Director of the School. The rest is provided by another teacher whom we were not able to meet during our visit.
We talked a lot with her, we saw in her, although very young, her love for children and school, as well as her great will and availability to do her best to allow children to have a minimum of knowledge in relation to following the official Malagasy program of the Ministry of Education.
The working conditions are very difficult (lack of teachers, lack of resources, etc.), as well as the various journeys (on foot for several km) to follow, for example, 1 day of training and to arrive at the exam location.
And precisely, with your help and assistance, we are doing our best to give them at least the basic means to enable them to work.
During our visit, we left there:
– More than a hundred books from the official Malagasy programs for the 6 classes (calculations, French, mathematics, SVT, geography, history, etc.), with various supplies for children (4-color pens, notebooks, colored pencils, slates , pencils, etc.)
– standard exam subjects and their answers
– 3 soccer balls
– Various school posters
– Some medication supplements (anti-malarial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, etc.)
– A few packets of sweets and biscuits shared with the village children
Miss Délicia, for her part, gave us a report on her purchases thanks to the amount that we left her during our last visit (July) for the school's needs and which will last her for the entire 2015 school year - 2016: sponges, chalks, rulers, protractors, inks, papers, staplers, glues, brooms, water buckets, spades, etc.
The village president showed us the place where the extension of the teacher's house will be built which will serve as an office and storage place for all the school's belongings (books, supplies, administrative papers, etc.) and which will also later be a small reading place because we plan to launch a book collection for children.
Some materials have already been collected: wood, roofs, etc. Work is normally scheduled to begin in early November 2015.
The work in progress to date is therefore:
– Construction of office and storage space
– Improvement of existing furniture (tables – benches, cabinets, blackboards, etc.): sanding, cleaning, etc. + addition of some new tables – benches.
Upcoming projects:
– Collection of various books (school and others)
– Addition of various basic medications (antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, plaster and compresses, etc.)
– Provision of various cleaning materials: soaps, buckets of water, etc. And teaching children about cleanliness and respect for supplies (school and others)
– Bring various materials for a possible day of fun: paints, drawing papers of various colors, scissors, etc.
– Carrying out at least one day of sharing know-how with people who may be interested (reading history, learning, training, games, etc.)
