Madagascar is an exceptional territory in many ways. Its potential for tourism development faces a double paradox that pushes our interest to analyze the geopolitics of tourism on the Island.

On the one hand, the country has an exceptionally rich biodiversity in a context of great human poverty and environmental degradation. On the other hand, the growing interest in tourism - and in particular in eco-responsible tourism - contributes to the degradation of the conditions (natural, social and cultural) that are the pillars of its own existence.

TOUR MALIN MADAGASCAR, with the Association ANTSO RE (National Association for Solidarity and Responsible Tourism), aware of the link between sustainable development and green growth, enhancing and preserving the natural capital which includes natural resources and biodiversity, is part of the core group of the platform NAT CAP MADAGASCAR. This platform brings together several actors and stakeholders in the promotion of the consideration and integration of natural capital in decision-making and planning and development actions of all sectors (public, private, CSOs, financial institutions, researchers, etc…).

7 sessions were organized during the Forum:
1 - Going for the green growth
2 - Financing and investment for natural capital and green growth
3 - Collaborative and innovative models for natural capital development
4 - Integration of natural capital development in investment projects in Madagascar
5 - Collaborative and innovative models for the development of natural capital
6 - Green transition and nature-based solutions for shared and sustainable growth
7 - Innovative ways of green growth

The objectives of the Forum were to :
– find concrete examples of innovative initiatives
– propose solutions and recommendations
– gather actors to define a stakeholder engagement plan
– develop a roadmap and an action plan.
At the end of this 2nd edition, a forum act was read to synthesize and inform all the stakeholders of all the decisions that were discussed during the 2 stays.
