WHAT IF WE TAKE YOU TO THE HEART OF THE ISLAND!
Madagascar is an authentic, magnificent and extraordinary island. It is distinguished first of all by the beauty and richness of its fauna and flora, its diversity in terms of landscapes and population. But its greatest richness remains in the appreciation of its Human side and the resulting local atmosphere.
Come, we will take you to discover these warm welcomes, these affectionate smiles.
We will bring you to discover our local atmosphere: the color and the animation of the markets, public places. But also, meeting communities in remote villages and sharing their daily life with them, with this simplicity for them to live in sobriety, in harmony with what exists, but always with a smile.
We will taste various dishes, various products and culinary curiosities: such as "mofo gasy, ramanonaka, mofo baolina, menakely, mofo katsaka, mofo mangahazo, mofo ravina..." (various donuts), koba ravina (sweetness made from banana, peanuts and rice flour), vary amin'anana (glutinous rice cooked with greens). The "maskita" (small skewers of meat and zebu hump), the pickles well vinegared and well salted, the ankisy (grilled octopus), the romazava, ravitoto, … There are so many, and each region has its specialty. So there will be so much to enjoy!
We will also walk through the colorful and bustling markets, strolling through the small alleys, between the butchers, and the small grocery stores which sell a whole mixture of products: from bicycle tires to cooking oil. We will walk between the merchants sitting on the ground to display and sell their freshly transported vegetables from their countryside, or the flea markets which display a whole string of "bits of things".
We will meet people, men, women, children. Young or old, everyone will have things to tell us, to share.
We will see the children playing with used tires and two sticks, handmade "indestructible" cars with everything they find (tin cans, plastics, bricks, wood, capsules, …). Traces in the red earth will suffice to create their city, their road.
We will see their playground: in the trees, in the open air, in the water or at the edge of the streams. Everything is a call to play: the tree trunks that will be their spaceships with all the controls imaginable, such as a branch that will act as a fire-breathing button, another that will trigger a protective screen, a branch that will serve as a weapon defense, another for a radar….
We will discuss with the older ones to see them relive their experiences, their struggles, their failures and their successes. Their stories, which they will continue to tell to their offspring. But above all, their learning, their wisdom and their advice.
We will share the daily life of dad, brother, uncle, cousin, working the land for the survival of the whole big family. Of the mother, the sister, the aunt who do their best to have an acceptable home, a child in their arms, another in their back, a basket on their head and a bucket of water in one hand, while waiting for the cassava harvested the day before to cook, which will serve as lunch for the family.
We will meet various local craftsmen, various handicrafts, and various works of all kinds (brickmaker, cultivator, farmer, etc.). We will appreciate their know-how, their enthusiasm and their dedication to finding the strength to accomplish their task.
And beyond all that… There will always be that welcoming smile wherever we go, that simplicity, that feeling of having lived and discovered aspects of life that we might not have known and could have enjoyed. And then, this natural beauty of the island, this diversity in terms of landscapes, regions, characters. The authenticity of the sites of the reserves and the national parks which will not fail to amaze you. Breathtaking landscapes, heavenly beaches and turquoise waters...
