This journey of exploration takes you to the heart of one of the wildest and most preserved regions of Madagascar. Between trekking in the primary forest of the Masoala peninsula, immersion in the villages of the Vanilla Coast and discovery of the spectacular Tsingy of Ankarana, the adventure is total. The trip ends gently on the heavenly beaches of Nosy Be.

Day 1 – Arrival in Antananarivo

Welcome at Antananarivo airport by your local team then transfer to town. Installation and first discovery of the atmosphere of the Malagasy capital. Night's rest after your international flight.

Day 2 - Antananarivo - Maroantsetra
Day 2 - Antananarivo - Maroantsetra

Transfer to the airport and domestic flight to Maroantsetra, gateway to the Masoala peninsula. Welcome by your guide and discovery of this coastal town bordered by an immense bay. Logistical preparation of the trek and briefing with the team.

Day 3 – Nosy Mangabe

Boat excursion to the island of Nosy Mangabe, a classified natural sanctuary. Exploration of the reserve in search of lemurs, reptiles and endemic birds. Picnic on the beach before returning to Maroantsetra.

Day 4 – Maroantsetra – Fizoana

Departure by traditional canoe towards Andranofotsy then typical transfer by motorbike to the village of Mahalevona. Start of the trek through the tropical countryside to the village of Fizoana. First immersion in rural life on the peninsula.

Day 5 – Izoana – Ampokafo

Start of the great crossing of the Masoala peninsula. Walk through plantations, forests and coastal villages before entering the national park. Progressive discovery of the unique fauna and flora of this primary forest.

Day 6 – Ambatoledama – Tsararampaka

The most sporty stage of the trek with more marked relief and dense vegetation. Crossing rivers and discovering magnificent waterfalls hidden in the forest. Privileged observation of wildlife in a completely wild environment.

Day 7 – Tsararampaka – Ambodihintsina

Continuation of crossing the Masoala park on more accessible trails. The landscapes alternate between rivers, forests and green valleys. Setting up camp near a village.

Day 8 – Ambodihintsina – Marerano

Gradual exit from the park after several river crossings and fords. Meet the locals and discover their way of life. Camp near the village of Marerano.

Day 9 – Marerano – Antanandavahely

Hike along the Onive River through crops and small villages. Some passages still cross preserved forest areas. Setting up camp near the village of Antanandavahely.

Day 10 – Antanandavahely – Cap Est

Last stage of the trek with a descent of the river by canoe when conditions permit. Arrival at the coastal village of Cape East in the afternoon. Well-deserved rest after crossing Masoala.

Day 11 – East Cape

Day of relaxation and discovery of the Eastern Cape. Visit to the lighthouse and the historic Benyowski stele. Possibility of swimming and discovery of fishing villages.

Day 12 – East Cape – Antalaha

Atypical motorbike connection through the tropical landscapes of the Vanilla Coast. Crossing rivers and discovering isolated villages. Arrival in Antalaha mid-afternoon.

Day 13 – Antalaha and the Vanilla Coast

Discovery of the vanilla and spice plantations that have made the region world famous. Meeting with local producers and immersion in their know-how. Lunch with locals and canoe ride in the villages.

Day 14 – Antalaha – Sambava – Vohémar

Scenic drive through the northeast coast of Madagascar. Stops in villages to discover the production of essential oils and spices. Continuation towards Vohémar through spectacular landscapes.

Day 15 – Vohémar – Ankarana

Road towards the north and arrival in the region of the famous Tsingy of Ankarana. Installation and first exploration of the surroundings. Nocturnal discovery possible to observe animals.

Day 16 – Ankarana Park – Ankify

Hike in the karst massif of Ankarana to discover the tsingy, caves and underground rivers. Possible observation of lemurs and birds. Road to the west coast towards Ankify.

Day 17 – Ankify – Nosy Be

Boat crossing to the island of Nosy Be. Discovery of the island of perfumes: market, ylang-ylang plantations and traditional villages. At the end of the day, spectacular sunset at Mont Passot.

Day 18 – Nosy Komba – Nosy Tanikely

Boat excursion to the island of Nosy Komba and its artisan village. Continue to the Nosy Tanikely marine reserve for snorkeling and swimming. Return to Nosy Be at the end of the day.

Free morning to enjoy the island or do some shopping at the local market. Transfer to the airport according to the international flight schedule. End of the trip.
